Friends in Places is easier to use than you might think. It all starts with your unique profile – a summary of who you are and what your family enjoys doing, at home and abroad.

Once your profile is in place, the adventure really starts, as you’ll be able to play an active role in our worldwide family. The Search facility enables you to get in touch with families and groups who share your interests; similarly, they can find you. At the same time, we’ll use what you tell us in your profile as a way of introducing you to people we think you’ll get along with. You could make new friends unexpectedly!

The Friends in Places community is a thriving one, and it’s easy to make new friends, but that’s not all. As well as getting to know families and groups with similar interests, you can contact people living in countries that appeal to you. You’ll learn about other parts of the world, other cultures, other ways of life, from the people who know best of all.

Make it even more special by contacting families who live at your destination. You’ll learn the kinds of things you don’t find in brochures, and these can make all the difference. Your new friends will be able to tell you what’s really important about where you’re heading, and they could even meet you when you arrive. The Travel Planner is another great way to enhance your holidays, and it’s simple to use. Just let us know when you’re going on holiday, and we’ll put you in touch with people who will be at the same place as you, at the same time. You can explore your holiday destination together, and if they’re from another part of the world, you can learn about each others’ cultures too.
